Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select the power off option on the screen to shut down the phone completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the upper left side of the frame to pop out the SIM card tray.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply warm air with a heat gun around the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel and press firmly to create a seal.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup and slide a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the back panel and the frame.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minSlide the pick slowly around all four edges of the phone to separate the back cover from the frame adhesive.

Lift off the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the rear glass cover away from the chassis and place it aside.

Unscrew the lower housing
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the plastic speaker cover over the bottom daughterboard.

Remove the speaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the lower speaker module edge and pry it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to pry the lower interconnect ribbon cable connector straight up off the daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minGently pry up the white coaxial antenna head from its socket on the daughterboard using precision tweezers.

Unscrew the daughterboard
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the daughterboard down against the frame.

Pry up the daughterboard
2 minSlide a spudger underneath the edge of the daughterboard and gently pry it out of the lower chassis.

Transfer the microphone rubber boot
2 minRemove the tiny rubber gasket from the old microphone port and fit it onto the replacement board's microphone.

Seat the new daughterboard
2 minAlign the new daughterboard into the bottom chassis cavity and press it flat into position.

Secure the daughterboard screw
1 minReinstall and tighten the single Phillips #000 screw to lock the daughterboard to the frame.

Reconnect the ribbon and antenna cables
2 minSnap the main flex connector and coaxial antenna head firmly back onto their respective ports on the daughterboard.

Reinstall the speaker module
3 minPlace the lower speaker cover back over the daughterboard and secure it with the reserved Phillips #000 screws.

Apply replacement adhesive
3 minClean remaining adhesive residue off the frame using isopropyl alcohol, then apply new double-sided adhesive tape around the rim.

Seal the back cover
2 minAlign the back panel with the phone frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive seal.
