   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power and volume down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone and push until the tray pops out.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply heat evenly around the perimeter of the back cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 to 3 minutes.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel and gently pull up to create a small gap.

   Insert opening pick

   Push a plastic opening pick into the gap between the frame and the back panel.

   Slice rear adhesive

   Slide the pick along all edges of the phone to slice through the adhesive holding the back cover.

   Remove the back cover

   Lift the rear panel away from the frame and remove it from the device.

   Unscrew midframe

   Remove the 13 Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe assembly.

   Unclip upper midframe

   Pry up the edges of the upper plastic midframe using a spudger and remove it.

    Disconnect the battery

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect interconnect flex

    Pry up both ends of the main interconnect ribbon cable attached to the motherboard and daughterboard.

    Remove flex cable

    Lift the interconnect cable off the phone frame and place it aside.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the sides of the battery to soften the glue underneath.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a flat plastic pry tool underneath the battery edge and slowly lift it up.

    Remove old battery

    Lift the degraded battery out of the frame recess and discard it safely.

    Clean battery recess

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery cavity using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Apply adhesive strips

    Lay new pre-cut battery adhesive strips into the battery recess and peel off the protective backing.

    Install new battery

    Align the replacement battery over the recess and press it firmly into place.

    Reconnect flex cable

    Snap the interconnect ribbon cable back onto the daughterboard and motherboard connectors.

    Connect battery cable

    Press the battery flex connector firmly onto its motherboard socket.

    Position midframe cover

    Align the upper midframe over the motherboard and press down around the edges to snap it in place.

    Secure midframe screws

    Reinsert and tighten all 13 Phillips #00 screws into the midframe.

    Apply back cover adhesive

    Apply fresh perimeter adhesive tape along the outer rim of the rear frame.

    Reattach back cover

    Align the back cover with the housing and press firmly around the edges to seal it.

    Reinsert SIM tray

    Push the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left edge until flush with the frame.
