   Power off the device

   Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole next to the tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and set it aside.

   Insert an opening pick near the SIM slot

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the thin seam between the display assembly and the rear plastic cover right above the SIM slot.

   Unclip the back cover perimeters

   Slide the plastic pick along the top, sides, and bottom edges to release the internal plastic clips securing the back cover.

   Lift off the rear plastic cover

   Gently lift the back cover straight up away from the chassis once all plastic clips are released.

   Unscrew the upper bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard shield.

   Remove the upper motherboard shield

   Use a plastic spudger to pry up and remove the motherboard cover from the frame.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off its socket on the motherboard.

   Unscrew the lower loudspeaker screws

   Remove the Phillips screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing to the bottom of the frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker assembly

    Pry up the loudspeaker module using a spudger and lift it out of the device chassis.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Pry up both ends of the main interconnect flex cable connecting the daughterboard to the motherboard, then remove it.

    Disconnect the display flex cable

    Pry up the display extension cable press connector from the motherboard to clear access over the battery.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery

    Dispense a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol or adhesive remover along the edges of the battery well.

    Wait for the adhesive to soften

    Allow 2 to 3 minutes for the alcohol to penetrate and break down the strong battery adhesive.

    Slide a plastic card under the battery

    Insert a thin plastic pry card or flat spudger beneath the lower edge of the battery.

    Lever the battery out of the frame

    Slowly lift the card upward to break the remaining adhesive bonds and lift the battery out. Do not use metal or sharp tools.

    Clean residual adhesive from the frame

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery well using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply fresh battery adhesive strips

    Peel and stick new pre-cut battery adhesive strips into the recessed battery well in the chassis.

    Set the new battery in place

    Align the replacement battery into the frame and press down firmly to set it into the new adhesive.

    Reconnect the display and interconnect flex cables

    Align and press down on the ribbon cable connectors until they snap securely into their sockets.

    Connect the battery flex cable

    Align the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it clicks into place.

    Position the loudspeaker assembly

    Place the loudspeaker module back over the bottom sub-board, aligning it with the screw posts.

    Position the upper motherboard shield

    Place the plastic upper motherboard cover back into alignment over the top section of the board.

    Fasten all housing screws

    Reinstall and tighten all Phillips screws in both the upper motherboard cover and lower loudspeaker assembly.

    Snap the back cover back on

    Align the back cover over the frame and press firmly along all edges until all plastic clips snap into place.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Slide the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the device until it sits flush.
