Step-by-step

Power off the device

Unscrew the upper motherboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard frame.

Lift off the motherboard cover
1 minInsert a spudger beneath the motherboard shield and pry it upward to detach it from the phone housing.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector directly off the motherboard.

Disconnect the volume key cable
1 minLocate the volume button flex connector on the edge of the motherboard and disconnect it using a spudger.

Peel off the volume button assembly
2 minGently slip tweezers under the volume button flex ribbon and peel it away from the frame adhesive.

Set the new volume button flex
2 minRemove any protective backing from the replacement flex cable, align it with the inner housing slot, and press down firmly.

Connect the volume button flex
1 minAlign and snap the volume button flex connector onto its socket on the motherboard.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery flex connector straight down onto the motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall the motherboard cover

Snap the back cover into place
