Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off to shut down the Galaxy A04 completely.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray.

Pry open the back cover
3 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the screen bezel and back cover near the SIM slot.

Unclip the back cover
3 minSlide the plastic pick along all four sides to release the plastic retaining clips, then lift off the rear panel.

Unscrew the upper motherboard bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard shield.

Remove the motherboard cover
1 minGently lift the upper plastic cover using a spudger and set it aside.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard.

Unscrew the lower speaker module

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the display and pull upward gently to create a gap.

Slice through display adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and carefully slide it around the perimeter to cut the adhesive.

Remove the damaged screen
2 minLift the display off the frame while carefully guiding the ribbon cable through the frame slot.

Clean adhesive from the frame
5 minScrape away remaining glue and glass pieces using a spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new display adhesive
4 minPlace double-sided adhesive strips cleanly along the recessed perimeter of the middle frame.

Install the replacement screen
3 minThread the new display flex cable through the frame opening and press the screen firmly into place.

Reconnect display and battery cables
2 minPress the display flex cable and battery connectors down onto their motherboard sockets until they snap.

Reattach motherboard cover and speaker
2 minPosition the plastic motherboard shield and lower speaker assembly back onto the midframe.

4 minReinsert and tighten all Phillips #00 screws into the upper motherboard cover and lower speaker module.

Snap back cover into place
2 minAlign the rear panel with the frame and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap shut.
