Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely powered down before beginning.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM card slot on the upper-left side. Push firmly to eject the tray and pull it out.

Heat the back panel edges
2 minApply heat to the rear cover perimeter with a heat gun on low setting for roughly 1 to 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive and clips.

Pry open the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the thin gap between the rear cover and the display frame near the SIM card slot.

Unclip the back cover
3 minSlide the plastic pick around the entire frame boundary to pop all plastic retaining clips loose.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear plastic cover straight off the frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper shield
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the plastic upper motherboard cover in place.

Detach the upper shield
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the upper plastic shield and gently lever it up from the chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minPry up the main display ribbon cable connector from the bottom of the logic board using the tip of a spudger.

Disconnect the sub-board interconnect cable
1 minPop the interconnect ribbon connector off the motherboard using a plastic spudger tool.

Unhook the coaxial antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the head of the white coaxial antenna cable off its motherboard socket.

Remove the front camera
2 minDisconnect the front camera ribbon cable from the logic board and pull the camera module out of its housing using tweezers.

Remove the motherboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board to the frame.

Lift out the logic board
2 minPry gently underneath the bottom edge of the logic board with a flat spudger and lift it free from the phone frame.
