Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to turn off the OnePlus 10R completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM ejector pin into the small hole on the bottom frame and press firmly until the tray pops out.

Heat the back glass cover
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back panel for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften adhesive.

Attach suction cup to rear glass
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the back cover and pull upward firmly to create a tiny seam.

Slice perimeter back cover adhesive

Remove rear back panel

1 minApply mild heat from a hair dryer to the outer side frame housing the volume buttons for 30 seconds to loosen internal glue.

Peel volume button flex cable
3 minGently slide fine curved tweezers under the volume button flex cable inside the frame and pry it away from the housing.

Remove volume key actuators
2 minPush the external volume key buttons inward with tweezers to pop out the metallic actuator brackets if replacing them.

Install new volume button flex cable
3 minAlign the new volume button flex cable with internal frame pins and press it down onto the side wall adhesive.

Reconnect volume flex connector
2 minPress the volume flex cable connector directly down onto motherboard until it snaps into place.

Reconnect battery flex cable
1 minAlign battery connector over motherboard socket and press straight down until it clicks into position.

Reinstall motherboard cover shield
3 minPosition plastic midframe shield over motherboard, press to snap clips, and tighten all Phillips screws.

Reseal back panel
3 minApply fresh precut adhesive along rear frame perimeter and press back cover firmly down for 1 minute.
