   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously, then select power off. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the side of the phone frame. Press inward firmly until the SIM tray pops out, then remove it.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply a heat gun or hairdryer around the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the plastic back cover.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press down firmly to create a tight vacuum seal against the surface.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the back panel and the frame. Slide a plastic opening pick directly into the seam.

   Slice the back cover adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along all four edges of the device to cut through the factory perimeter tape.

   Remove the back cover

   Gently lift the back cover straight off the body of the phone and set it aside.

   Unscrew the motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 11 screws holding the upper plastic protection bracket over the motherboard.

   Unscrew the speaker assembly

   Remove the 7 Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom speaker housing to the lower frame.

    Remove the upper frame cover

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the upper plastic cover and pry up to detach it from the phone body.

    Disconnect the battery press connector

    Use the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable directly off its socket on the motherboard.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Pry up the display connector from the motherboard to avoid straining or damaging the ribbon cable during battery removal.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Disconnect both ends of the main ribbon cable bridging the motherboard and sub-board, then remove the cable.

    Soften the battery adhesive

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and side margins of the battery well.

    Unpeel the battery pull tab

    Peel back the clear adhesive protective flap labeled with green pull tabs over the battery.

    Pull the battery tab upward

    Grasp the main pull tab firmly and pull directly upward with steady force to lift the battery out of the chassis.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the tray and place it safely away from tools to avoid punctures.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery compartment using a micro-fiber cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Lay down fresh pre-cut double-sided adhesive strips into the metal battery tray and peel off the protective liners.

    Install the new battery

    Set the new battery directly into the compartment and press down across the top surface to seat it into the adhesive.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Reattach the main interconnect cable and display cable by snapping their press connectors back onto the motherboard sockets.

    Reconnect the battery

    Align the battery flex connector over its terminal and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the motherboard cover

    Position the upper motherboard shield over the top of the device and press down until it clips into place.

    Secure the frame screws

    Reinstall and tighten all Phillips #00 screws in both the upper motherboard cover and lower speaker module.

    Apply back cover adhesive

    Position new perimeter adhesive tape around the rim of the frame and press it into place.

    Reattach the back cover

    Align the back glass with the outer edges of the phone frame and press firmly along all sides to seal the adhesive.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Push the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side frame until it sits completely flush.
