Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off the device before disassembling.

Remove the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the frame and press firmly until the tray pops out.

Heat the Rear Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting around the perimeter of the back panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the Rear Adhesive
4 minPress a suction cup onto the lower back cover, pull up gently to create a gap, and insert an opening pick to slice through the adhesive edge.

Disconnect the Fingerprint Cable
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover and use a spudger to gently pop the fingerprint reader flex cable off its motherboard socket.

Unscrew the Midframe Shield
3 minRemove all Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard bezel and midframe shield to the housing.

Remove the Upper Midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe shield and gently pry it up and off the phone.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery flex cable from the mainboard to prevent electrical shorts.

Unplug the Volume Button Flex
2 minLocate the volume button flex connector on the side of the motherboard and carefully pop it loose with a spudger.

Peel Up the Damaged Volume Cable
3 minSlide fine-tipped tweezers beneath the volume button ribbon cable and slowly peel it away from the inner frame adhesive.

Position the New Volume Cable
2 minRemove any protective backing from the new volume cable adhesive and press the strip firmly into the frame slot.

Connect the New Volume Flex
1 minAlign the press connector over its motherboard socket and press down gently until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the Battery
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down to reconnect power.

Reinstall the Midframe Shield
3 minPosition the plastic midframe shield over the motherboard and reinsert all Phillips screws to secure it.

Reconnect the Fingerprint Cable
2 minHold the back cover near the phone body and press the fingerprint reader flex cable back onto its connector.

Seal the Rear Cover
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive and close the phone.
