Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Verify the device is completely powered down before continuing.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the plastic rear cover and the display frame near the SIM slot.

Unclip Rear Cover
3 minSlide the pick around the perimeter of the phone to disengage the plastic retention clips holding the back cover.

Lift Off Back Cover
2 minCarefully separate the rear cover from the main frame and set it aside.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

Pry Up Loudspeaker Assembly
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker module and lever it up to release it.

Remove Old Loudspeaker
1 minLift the loudspeaker assembly out of the bottom section of the phone chassis.

Clean Sub-board Contacts
2 minLightly brush the gold contact pads on the lower sub-board with a drop of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab.

Install New Loudspeaker
2 minPosition the replacement loudspeaker module into the lower cavity and press down until it sits flush.

Tighten Module Screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws to secure the speaker module to the sub-board frame.

Reattach Rear Cover
2 minAlign the rear cover with the phone chassis and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap shut.

Reinsert SIM Tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until fully flush.

Test Audio Output
2 minPower on the device and play a ringtone or media file to verify the new speaker functions properly.
