Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely shut down the device.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minApply a heat gun to the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick under the edge of the back cover and slide it around the perimeter to break the seal.

Disconnect Fingerprint Reader
2 minSlightly lift the back cover and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the board.

Unscrew Mainboard Bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard shield to the frame.

Remove Mainboard Bracket
1 minPry up the edge of the plastic motherboard bracket with a spudger and remove it from the phone.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the battery press connector from its socket.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minPry up the display flex cable connector located on the lower section of the logic board.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minDetach the main interconnect flex cable that links the logic board to the lower charging board.

Disconnect Camera Modules
2 minUnplug the rear camera connectors and the front camera connector using a plastic spudger.

Remove Logic Board Screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the motherboard directly to the chassis.

Lift Logic Board
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the top edge of the logic board and gently lift it out of the frame.

Clean Circuit Joints
4 minApply high-percentage isopropyl alcohol and solder flux to oxidized or damaged pads on the board.

Reflow Logic Board Components
10 minUse a fine-tip soldering iron or hot air station to reflow loose solder joints on the logic board.
