Step-by-step

Power off the smartphone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM card tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it completely.

Warm the back cover adhesive
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear cover using a heat gun or hairdryer for approximately 2 minutes. This softens the internal adhesive strips.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a small suction cup onto the lower third of the back cover near the USB port. Pull up gently on the ring to create a slight gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created between the back cover and the midframe. Keep the pick parallel to the frame to avoid damaging internal components.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the bottom and side edges of the back cover. Gently disengage the plastic retention clips holding the cover.

Unclip top edge of rear cover
2 minCarefully slide the pick along the top edge to release the remaining clips. Do not pull the cover away completely yet as it is attached by a short ribbon cable.

Tilt open the back cover
1 minHinge the back cover open toward the left side like a book. Keep it resting within a couple of inches of the frame to avoid tension on the fingerprint cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minUse a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Set the removed back cover aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
3 minRemove the seven Phillips screws securing the plastic loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the phone. Keep these screws organized for reassembly.

Pry up the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the notch on the speaker housing. Lift the speaker assembly up and remove it from the lower frame.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the main ribbon cable connector off the lower daughterboard. Gently bend the cable slightly back from the board.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to lift the coaxial antenna cable connector straight up from the lower board. Move the wire slightly outward to clear the board.

Remove daughterboard retaining screws
1 minRemove the single Phillips screw holding the charging port daughterboard to the chassis. Set the screw aside safely.

Extract the damaged charging port board
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the edge of the daughterboard. Carefully lever it out of its recess in the lower frame.

Position the new charging board
2 minAlign the replacement daughterboard with the lower frame cutouts. Lower the USB-C port squarely into its housing slot.

Fasten daughterboard screw
1 minThread and tighten the single Phillips screw to fix the new daughterboard securely to the frame.

Attach the coaxial antenna cable
2 minAlign the antenna cable connector directly over its button socket on the daughterboard. Press down gently until it snaps flush into place.

Reconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minAlign the ribbon connector over its socket on the daughterboard. Press firmly on one side, then the other, until it clicks securely.

Reinstall the loudspeaker module
2 minPosition the loudspeaker housing over the lower daughterboard. Press it flat into the chassis until it sits flush.

Secure loudspeaker screws
3 minReplace and tighten all seven Phillips screws holding the loudspeaker housing in place.

Plug in the fingerprint reader cable
2 minHold the back cover close to the frame and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector into its socket until it clicks.

Seal and press the back cover
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all edges. Squeeze around the perimeter to snap the internal clips into place.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the left edge until it sits completely flush with the phone body.
