Step-by-step

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray. Remove the SIM tray completely from the device.

Heat rear panel
2 minApply heat to the edges of the plastic back cover for 2 minutes to soften internal adhesive. Keep heat source moving to avoid warping plastic.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the back cover near the bottom edge. Pull up firmly to create a small seam between back cover and frame.

Slice bottom edge adhesive
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge. Slide the pick left and right to sever the adhesive bond.

Unclip side edges
3 minSlide the plastic pick around the left and right edges to release the internal plastic clips securing the cover.

Pivot rear cover open
1 minGently lift the left side of the back cover open like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint flex cable remains attached.

Unscrew motherboard cover
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard bracket to the upper frame.

Remove motherboard cover
1 minUse a spudger to pry up the edges of the plastic motherboard shield. Lift it off the phone and set it aside.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex
1 minPry the fingerprint sensor connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger. Separate the back cover completely.

Disconnect battery flex cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to pop the battery connector straight off the motherboard socket.

Unscrew lower speaker module
2 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the loudspeaker module at the bottom of the phone.

Remove loudspeaker module
1 minPry up and lift out the loudspeaker module to clear the lower edge of the battery compartment.

Unstick battery pull tab
1 minPeel back the clear protective film overlaying the battery and locate the green adhesive pull tab.

Pull battery adhesive tab
3 minGrip the green pull tab firmly and pull straight up with steady force to release the battery from the housing frame.

Remove old battery
2 minApply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol underneath if stubborn, then lift the battery out of the frame.

Clean battery well
2 minWipe away leftover adhesive residue inside the frame well using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply fresh adhesive strips
2 minPlace new double-sided battery adhesive strips flat into the battery compartment recess.

Install replacement battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery in the well and press down firmly for 10 seconds to secure it.

Reconnect battery flex cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its socket and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Reinstall loudspeaker module
2 minPlace the loudspeaker module back into the lower frame and tighten the Phillips screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor flex
1 minHold the back cover near the frame and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto the motherboard.

Reinstall motherboard cover
2 minPosition the plastic motherboard shield over the top assembly and secure it with the remaining Phillips screws.

Snap back cover closed
2 minAlign the rear cover with the phone frame and press firmly along all edges until clips snap securely shut.
