Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM card tray on the left edge and push gently to pop it out.

Heat the rear cover
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back panel for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Apply a suction cup
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the plastic back cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created between the back cover and the phone frame.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back panel to cut through the adhesive seal completely.

Unfold the back panel
2 minGently lift the back cover open from the left side, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint reader
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor connector straight up from the motherboard.

2 minDip a cotton swab in 91% isopropyl alcohol and gently clean the golden contact pads on the daughterboard.

Position the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module over the bottom compartment and press it down into place.

Secure the loudspeaker
3 minReinstall the Phillips #00 screws to firmly attach the speaker assembly to the frame.

Reconnect the fingerprint reader
2 minPress the fingerprint reader flex cable connector straight down onto its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Apply new adhesive
3 minPeel off old adhesive remnants from the frame and lay down new pre-cut back panel adhesive strips.

Reattach the back cover
2 minAlign the back cover with the phone frame and press firmly along the perimeter to secure the bond.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until it sits flush.
