Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously, then tap 'Power Off' on the screen.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the frame and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Heat the rear panel
3 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover with a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive beneath.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel, pull up, and slide a plastic opening pick under the seam.

Remove the rear cover
3 minWork the opening pick around all four edges to slice the remaining adhesive, then lift the back cover clear of the phone body.

Unscrew the plastic midframe
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the midframe to the inner phone chassis.

Separate the screen assembly
4 minCarefully slide the prying card along all sides while guiding the display flex cable through the slot in the frame.

Clean the frame rim
5 minScrape away leftover adhesive from the inner chassis ledge using a spudger, then wipe clean with high-percentage isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new screen adhesive
4 minLay double-sided adhesive strips along the thin metal perimeter of the chassis frame, pressing firmly down.

Route and seat the new screen
3 minThread the flex cable of the new display through the frame opening and gently press the display panel into position.

Reconnect the display cable
2 minAlign the display flex connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it snaps in place.

Reinstall the midframe
