Step-by-step

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM ejector tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat Back Cover
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the rear plastic panel for 2–3 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
5 minInsert a thin plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it carefully along the bottom and side edges to cut through the adhesive.

Remove Back Cover
2 minLift the rear cover completely off the frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unbolt Midframe Screws
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic midframe to the phone body.

Detach Plastic Midframe
3 minInsert a spudger around the perimeter edge of the inner midframe and pop the clips loose to separate it from the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Flex
1 minUse the pointed end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press-connector straight up from the motherboard.

Unbolt Loudspeaker Module
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding the loudspeaker enclosure at the bottom of the device.

Lift Out Loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker module and lift it out to expose the lower sub-board containing the primary microphone.

Disconnect Sub-Board Cables
3 minDisconnect the main interconnect flex cable and the white antenna coaxial cable from the sub-board using tweezers or a spudger.

Pry Up Microphone Sub-Board
3 minGently wedge a flat spudger under the daughterboard and pry it up from the light adhesive holding it to the frame.

Install New Microphone Sub-Board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone sub-board into its housing slot at the bottom of the frame and press down gently to secure it.

Reassemble Sub-Board Connections
3 minReconnect the main interconnect flex cable and snap the antenna coaxial cable back into its socket on the new board.

Secure Loudspeaker Module
3 minPlace the loudspeaker module back over the sub-board and tighten the Phillips screws to hold it in place.

Reconnect Battery and Reassemble Frame
6 minSnap the battery connector back into the motherboard, snap the midframe into position, re-insert midframe screws, and apply fresh adhesive to re-attach the back cover.
