Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power and volume up buttons simultaneously, then select Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply a heat gun or iOpener around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press down to secure suction and pull upward gently.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the rear glass and the plastic frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four sides of the phone to cut through the back cover adhesive.

Remove the rear panel
1 minCarefully lift the rear panel off the frame and place it on a clean, scratch-free surface.

Unscrew the loudspeaker cover
3 minUse a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the 7 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker housing.

Pry up the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the designated pry notch on the loudspeaker cover and lift gently.

Remove the original speaker
1 minLift the loudspeaker assembly out of the lower recess of the phone and set it aside.

Clean contact pads
2 minGently wipe the gold contacts on the daughterboard with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

Insert the new speaker
1 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module over the lower chassis cavity.

Snap speaker into frame
1 minPress down on the loudspeaker module until all plastic clips snap securely into place.

Reinstall loudspeaker screws
3 minSecure the loudspeaker module by reinserting and tightening the 7 Phillips PH00 screws.

Apply fresh back cover adhesive
3 minRemove old adhesive strips from the frame and lay down new pre-cut back cover adhesive.

Seal the back cover
2 minAlign the rear cover with the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot until it sits completely flush with the side frame.
