Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minTurn off your OnePlus Nord 2T completely before starting disassembly. Press and hold the power button and tap Power Off on the screen.

Remove SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the bottom of the device. Push firmly until the tray ejects and set it aside.

Heat rear glass cover
3 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the glass.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the rear glass panel. Press down firmly to create a tight seal.

Slice back cover adhesive
5 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide a plastic prying tool under the glass. Carefully slice the adhesive around all four edges.

Remove rear panel
2 minGently lift the back glass cover away from the phone body. Place the back panel safely on a soft surface.

Unscrew motherboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all securing screws from the top plastic motherboard shield.

Remove motherboard cover
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the motherboard shield. Gently pry up and remove the plastic cover.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery press-connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger. This cuts power to the board to prevent short circuits.

Disconnect power button flex
2 minLocate the power button flex cable connector on the motherboard edge. Unplug the press connector with a plastic spudger tool.

Peel out broken power flex
3 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the old power button flex cable away from the internal side frame. Peel off the remaining adhesive strip.

Clean button frame channel
2 minApply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to a cotton swab. Wipe away any lingering glue inside the power button frame channel.

Mount new power flex
3 minRemove the adhesive backing from your new power button flex cable. Align it precisely inside the frame channel and press down firmly.

Plug in power flex cable
1 minAlign the press connector over its motherboard socket. Press down gently until you feel a firm click.

Reconnect battery cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly to re-establish power.

Reinstall motherboard cover
3 minPlace the motherboard plastic shield back into position. Secure it by reinserting all Phillips #000 screws.

Reseal back panel
4 minApply pre-cut replacement adhesive around the frame edge, then align and press the rear glass cover firmly back onto the chassis.
