Step-by-step

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the bottom left of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat Back Cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the edges of the rear glass panel for 2 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive securing the back cover.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam opened by the suction cup. Take care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm.

Slice Edge Adhesive
5 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the phone to slice through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick encounters heavy resistance.

Remove Back Cover
1 minGently lift the back glass off the body of the phone and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unbolt Upper Bracket Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard protective cover.

Remove Upper Cover
2 minUse tweezers to lift the upper protective cover off the frame, exposing the motherboard and battery connector.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the press-fit battery connector directly off the motherboard.

Unbolt Lower Speaker Screws
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding down the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Remove Speaker Bracket
2 minPry up the loudspeaker assembly using a spudger and lift it clear of the bottom sub-board.

Disconnect Main Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to detach the main interconnect ribbon cable press connector from the bottom sub-board.

Disconnect Antenna Cables
2 minCarefully unclip the white and black coaxial antenna cables from the bottom sub-board using tweezers.

Pry Up Sub-Board
2 minInsert a spudger under the bottom sub-board containing the microphone assembly and gently pry it out of the chassis.

Align New Microphone Board
2 minPosition the new microphone sub-board into the recessed cavity at the bottom of the phone frame.

Reattach Cables
3 minSnap the coaxial antenna cables and the main interconnect ribbon cable firmly onto the new sub-board connectors.

Reinstall Speaker Bracket
3 minPlace the loudspeaker housing back over the sub-board and tighten the Phillips screws until snug.

Reconnect Battery and Covers
4 minPress the battery connector into place, reinstall the top motherboard cover, and secure it with its screws.

Apply Back Cover Adhesive
4 minApply new adhesive strips along the phone frame perimeter, then press the rear glass firmly back into place.
