   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the frame. Push firmly to pop out the tray, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back cover

   Use a heat gun or hairdryer on low heat around the edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the internal adhesive securing the rear panel.

   Apply a suction cup

   Place a suction handle on the lower third of the back panel. Press down firmly to secure a tight vacuum seal.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up gently on the suction handle to create a tiny gap at the bottom edge. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick slowly along the edges of the phone to slice through the adhesive. Work around all four sides carefully.

   Release perimeter clips

   Gently lever the plastic back cover away from the plastic frame clips using a spudger. Do not fully remove the cover yet.

   Disconnect the fingerprint flex

   Tilt the rear cover open slightly to reveal the fingerprint sensor cable. Use tweezers or a spudger to detach the flex connector from the motherboard.

   Remove upper motherboard screws

   Unscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding down the plastic motherboard cover and speaker bracket. Store screws separately by length.

    Remove motherboard shield

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the plastic motherboard cover. Lift up gently and lift the shield off the phone.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket. This cuts power to the rest of the board.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Disconnect the display/main interconnect ribbon cable that runs over the top of the battery. Fold it back out of the way.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around battery

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery. Wait two minutes to dissolve the adhesive underneath.

    Pry up the battery

    Slide a flat plastic opening card or wide spudger under the battery from the side. Apply steady upward levering force without puncturing the pouch.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the frame chassis once adhesive releases completely. Dispose of damaged or degraded lithium batteries properly.

    Clean adhesive residue

    Use a spudger dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean remaining adhesive from the metal battery well. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

    Install new battery adhesive

    Peel the protective backing off new battery adhesive strips and stick them into the empty battery compartment.

    Seat the new battery

    Align the replacement battery into the frame and press down firmly to set the adhesive strips. Ensure the cable reaches its motherboard connector easily.

    Reconnect ribbon cables

    Snap the main interconnect cable and the battery press connector straight down into their sockets until they click.

    Reattach motherboard shield

    Position the plastic motherboard shield over the top portion of the device. Reinstall all Phillips #00 screws to secure it.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor and snap back cover

    Attach the fingerprint reader flex cable to the motherboard. Align the rear cover over the frame and press around the perimeter until all clips snap flush.
