Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Shut Down. Ensure the device is completely turned off before starting.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the SIM tray. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the back cover

Attach suction cup to back cover
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear cover. Pull up gently to create a small gap.

2 minSlide a thin plastic pick into the gap created between the back panel and the plastic phone frame.

Slice rear panel adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges to cut through the adhesive. Avoid inserting deep near the fingerprint sensor on the upper back.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minLift the rear cover slightly and use a spudger to pop off the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector.

Unscrew mainboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic mainboard cover.

Remove upper mainboard bracket

4 minInsert an opening pick between the screen frame and display panel, cutting through the adhesive along the edges.

Lift away broken screen
2 minCarefully tilt the screen away from the frame and thread the display flex cable out through the slot.

Clean frame glue residue
5 minScrape off remaining adhesive and glass shards from the frame recess using a spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new screen adhesive
4 minLay precision double-sided adhesive strips around the cleaned inner rim of the phone frame.

Feed cable and seat display
3 minThread the new display flex cable through the slot and press the new screen firmly into the frame.

Reconnect display cable
2 minAlign and press down on the display flex connector on the motherboard until it clicks.

Reconnect battery and mainboard bracket
4 minAttach the battery connector, place the upper cover back on, and secure it with the Phillips screws.
