Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the card tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it completely.

Heat rear cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the outer edges of the back panel for 2-3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the plastic back panel to the frame.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel. Pull upward gently on the suction cup handle to create a tiny gap along the bottom edge.

Insert opening pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the rear cover and the frame. Slide the pick along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.

Slice side adhesive
3 minCarefully slide the opening pick along both long edges of the phone. Take extra care on the left side near the fingerprint sensor to avoid damaging the flex cable.

Open back cover slightly
1 minGently hinge open the back cover from the right edge like a book. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable is still attached.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minUse the flat tip of a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector directly off the motherboard. Lift away and remove the back cover.

Unscrew upper bracket
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the upper protective motherboard bracket. Store the screws in a safe location for reassembly.

Remove motherboard bracket
1 minUse tweezers or your fingers to lift the plastic motherboard bracket out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger. This prevents electrical shorts while working on internal components.

Unscrew lower speaker
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the lower loudspeaker cover over the charging port sub-board.

Remove speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger under the corner of the lower speaker assembly and lift it up out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect daughterboard flex
1 minUse a spudger to pry up and disconnect the main interconnect flex cable press connector from the charging sub-board.

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna cable connector straight up off the lower sub-board.

Remove original board
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool underneath the charging sub-board and lift it out of the chassis. Peel away any light adhesive beneath it.

Install new board
2 minPosition the new charging port sub-board in the lower chassis cavity. Press down gently to seat the board flush.

Reconnect antenna cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna head carefully over its plug on the new sub-board and press gently until it snaps into place.

Reconnect daughterboard flex
1 minAlign the interconnect ribbon cable connector over its socket on the new sub-board and press down firmly to secure it.

Reinstall speaker housing
1 minPlace the lower loudspeaker assembly over the sub-board and press down until it sits flat in the frame.

Secure speaker screws
2 minReinstall and tighten all Phillips #000 screws holding the loudspeaker cover in place.

Reconnect battery cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it clicks.

Reinstall upper bracket
2 minPosition the upper motherboard bracket back on the frame and secure it with the retained Phillips #000 screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the back cover close to the phone and snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector back onto the motherboard.

Seal rear panel
2 minApply new rear cover adhesive strips around the perimeter, then align the back cover and press firmly to seal the phone.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left side of the device until it sits flush.
