Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

3 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Slice the rear panel adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup to the bottom of the back panel and pull up slightly to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slice along the perimeter.

Detach the fingerprint sensor cable
2 minGently lift the right side of the rear panel like a book. Use a spudger to disconnect the fingerprint reader ribbon cable from the motherboard.

Remove motherboard cover screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard shield.
