Step-by-step
- 1
Power off phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to turn off your Moto G9 Plus completely.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone and pull out the card tray.

Heat rear cover
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the rear cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower back cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slide it along all sides to cut through the rear panel tape.

Lift rear cover
2 minPivot the rear panel open carefully, paying attention not to damage the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew speaker assembly
3 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker cover to the frame.

Remove loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the loudspeaker housing and pry it up out of the phone body.

Disconnect main flex cable
1 minPry up the lower press connector of the main ribbon cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.

Disconnect coaxial cable
1 minUse fine tweezers to gently unclip the antenna coaxial cable connector from the daughterboard.

Remove microphone board
2 minPry the bottom sub-board containing the primary microphone up from the frame adhesive and lift it out.

Install new sub-board
2 minPosition the new microphone daughterboard in the lower cavity and press gently until it sits flat.

Reconnect coaxial cable
1 minAlign the antenna coaxial cable head over its socket on the new board and snap it into place.

Reconnect main flex cable
1 minPress the lower main interconnect ribbon connector directly onto the daughterboard until it clicks.

Reinstall speaker module
2 minPlace the loudspeaker assembly back over the bottom daughterboard and push down gently.

Secure speaker screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws to firm the loudspeaker housing in place.

Reseal back cover
3 minApply new custom adhesive tape around the frame perimeter, align the rear cover, and press firmly.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until flush.
