   Remove SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole at the bottom edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the SIM tray and remove it completely.

   Heat the back panel

   Apply heat to the rear edges of the Moto G85 using a heat gun or hair dryer on low power for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear glass panel near the bottom edge. Pull up gently to create a small gap.

   Insert plastic opening pick

   Insert a plastic pick into the seam created by the suction cup. Leave it in place to keep the gap open.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along all four edges of the back panel to separate the adhesive securing it to the frame.

   Lift off the back cover

   Gently lift the back cover free from the chassis and place it aside.

   Unscrew top motherboard bracket

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard midframe cover.

   Detach midframe cover

   Pry up the edges of the plastic motherboard cover with a spudger and lift it off the device.

   Disconnect battery cable

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to detach the battery press-fit connector from the motherboard to power off the circuit.

    Disconnect interconnect flex ribbon

    Pry up the main interconnect ribbon cable connector that runs over the battery.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery well to weaken the adhesive.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a flat plastic card or broad pry tool under the battery and slowly lift until it detaches from the frame. Never bend or puncture the battery.

    Clean frame adhesive residue

    Scrape off residual glue from the battery housing using a spudger, then clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Lay fresh double-sided battery adhesive strips into the battery compartment and remove the protective film.

    Install new battery

    Align the new battery with the housing and press down firmly to secure it onto the adhesive.

    Reconnect interconnect flex cable

    Press the main interconnect ribbon cable back onto its corresponding motherboard port until it snaps shut.

    Reconnect battery connector

    Align and press the battery cable connector onto the motherboard until you feel it click into place.

    Reinstall midframe cover

    Place the plastic motherboard cover back over the upper board and replace all Phillips screws.

    Reseal back cover

    Apply new perimeter adhesive or thin electronic repair glue around the frame border, then firmly press the back cover into place.
