Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off the device before opening.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone and press firmly to remove the tray.

Heat the rear panel
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat around the edges of the back cover for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply a suction cup
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and pull upward to create a thin gap.

Slice through the adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it slowly along the frame perimeter to cut the perimeter adhesive.

Remove the rear cover

Remove lower housing screws

Pry off the speaker cover

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the main flex cable connector straight up off the sub-board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGrip the metal head of the antenna cable with fine-tip tweezers and lift straight up to disconnect it.

Remove the old microphone sub-board
2 minInsert a flat prying tool under the sub-board containing the primary microphone and lift it from the phone frame.

Transfer the microphone rubber boot
2 minUse tweezers to peel the small rubber acoustic seal from the old microphone and place it over the new microphone component.

Install the new sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board into its frame slot and press down gently until it sits completely flush.

Reconnect flex and antenna cables
3 minSnap the main flex cable connector and the coaxial cable head back onto their sockets on the sub-board.

Reinstall the lower speaker cover
3 minPosition the speaker assembly back over the sub-board and tighten the Phillips #000 screws firmly.

Reattach the rear cover
4 minApply pre-cut adhesive strips along the edges and press the back cover firmly down onto the frame to seal.
