   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole next to the tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

   Warm the rear cover edges

   Apply heat to the outer edges of the plastic back cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes. This softens the internal perimeter adhesive.

   Slice the back cover adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick between the back cover and the midframe near the bottom edge. Slide the pick around all sides to separate the adhesive.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

   Gently lift the rear panel slightly, taking care not to strain the attached ribbon cable. Use tweezers to pop the fingerprint flex connector off the motherboard.

   Remove the upper motherboard cover screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic upper motherboard shield. Keep the screws organized by size.

   Detach the upper motherboard cover

   Pry up the edges of the plastic motherboard shield using a plastic opening tool. Lift the shield out of the chassis and set it aside.

   Disconnect the battery connector

   Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery press-fit connector straight up from the mainboard. Disconnecting power immediately prevents further electrical short circuits.

   Disconnect the display and sub-board flex cables

   Unplug the main interconnect flex cable and display cable from their sockets on the motherboard using a plastic opening tool. Disconnect the coax antenna cable.

   Remove the mainboard from the frame

   Remove any remaining retaining screws securing the motherboard. Carefully tilt and lift the motherboard out of the phone body.

    Remove the lower speaker enclosure screws

    Unscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding the loudspeaker assembly at the bottom of the device. Pry up and remove the speaker cover.

    Detach the USB charging sub-board

    Disconnect the bottom end of the interconnect flex cable and the antenna cable from the daughterboard. Lift the sub-board out of the housing.

    Clean corrosion off the mainboard with alcohol

    Inspect the logic board under a magnifying glass for white or green corrosion residue. Scrub affected areas thoroughly using a soft brush dipped in 99% isopropyl alcohol.

    Clean the sub-board and flex cable connectors

    Dip a cotton swab in 99% isopropyl alcohol and clean all connector ports, the USB-C port, and sub-board components. Ensure no liquid debris remains in press-fit sockets.

    Allow all components to dry completely

    Lay all cleaned circuit boards on a lint-free microfiber cloth. Allow them to air dry fully in a warm, well-ventilated area before proceeding.

    Reassemble the phone and test functions

    Reinstall the sub-board and mainboard, reconnect all flex cables, and attach the battery last. Powers on the device to verify screen, charging, and audio functions.
