Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is shut down completely before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left frame. Press inward firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat from a hair dryer or heat gun around the perimeter of the back plastic cover for 1 to 2 minutes to loosen the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull up gently on the ring to create a slight gap between the cover and the frame.

Slice through the rear adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slide it carefully around all edges of the phone to disengage the internal plastic clips and adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minGently swing the back cover open like a book to the right. Use a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex cable directly off the motherboard.

Remove lower speaker screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 7 screws securing the plastic speaker enclosure at the bottom of the device.

Remove the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the notch on the speaker housing and pop it out from the frame to reveal the microphone sub-board.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the bottom press-connector of the main ribbon cable from the sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna cable connector straight up from its socket on the lower board.

Pry up the microphone daughterboard
2 minSlide a flat plastic spudger beneath the daughterboard and gently lift it out of the phone body.

Transfer the microphone rubber gasket
2 minRemove the small black rubber boot from the old microphone and transfer it directly onto the replacement sub-board microphone component.

Install the new daughterboard
2 minPlace the new microphone sub-board into the lower recess of the phone frame and press down firmly to seat it.

Reconnect the antenna and main flex cables
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable and the main interconnect ribbon cable back onto their respective press-fit connectors on the sub-board.

Reinstall the speaker housing
3 minPosition the lower speaker housing over the daughterboard and replace the 7 Phillips #00 screws until snug.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor and seal cover
3 minPlug the fingerprint flex cable back into the motherboard, align the rear cover, and firmly press along all edges until it snaps tight.
