Step-by-step
- 1
Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the phone. Push inward firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it completely.

Heat the back cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the back panel for approximately two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the plastic rear cover.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge and pull up gently to create a gap. Insert a plastic opening pick and slide it around the frame to slice the adhesive.

Unclip the fingerprint reader flex
2 minGently fold the back panel over to the left side like a book. Use a plastic spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable from the logic board.

Remove the top midframe screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the ten screws securing the top plastic cover and motherboard shield.

Pry off the upper midframe cover
2 minInsert the edge of a spudger under the top plastic shield and pop it out of the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minLocate the battery connector on the lower left of the logic board. Pry the press-fit connector straight up using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minPry the display flex cable connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to disconnect the main daughterboard-to-logic-board flex cable.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to gently pry the white antenna cable head straight up from its terminal on the right side of the board.

Remove the logic board retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the bottom edge of the logic board to the frame.

Disconnect and transfer the cameras
3 minUnplug the front and rear camera connectors from the logic board using a spudger. Lift the camera modules out so they can be installed on the replacement board.

Lift out the logic board
2 minInsert a spudger underneath the bottom edge of the logic board and gently pry it up out of the housing.
