   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button on the right side, then tap Power Off on the screen. Make sure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole beside the SIM tray on the top-left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray and pull it out.

   Heat the rear plastic cover

   Use a hair dryer or heating pad on the outer edges of the rear cover for about two minutes. Softening the internal plastic clips makes removal much easier.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the rear cover and the front display frame near the SIM tray slot.

   Unclip the rear shell

   Slide the opening pick around the entire perimeter of the phone frame. Gently twist the pick to pop all the plastic retention clips free.

   Open the rear cover slightly

   Carefully pivot the rear cover open from the right side like a book cover. Do not pull it away entirely because the fingerprint sensor flex cable is still attached.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex

   Use the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader press connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard.

   Remove the motherboard bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 11 screws securing the plastic motherboard bracket at the top of the chassis.

   Remove the motherboard bracket

   Insert a spudger under the edge of the plastic motherboard cover and lift it away from the phone body.

    Disconnect the battery press connector

    Pry the battery connector straight up off its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger to cut power to the device.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol to the adhesive

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery. Allow two minutes for the alcohol to break down the glue.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a wide plastic opening tool under the bottom edge of the battery. Gently lever upwards to loosen the battery from the metal recessed frame.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the chassis carefully. Be cautious not to bend, crease, or puncture the pack during removal.

    Clean old adhesive residue

    Wipe the empty battery cavity with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to clear out lingering adhesive and debris.

    Apply new battery adhesive strips

    Peel the protective backing off new adhesive strips and lay them evenly across the middle of the battery well in the chassis.

    Set the replacement battery

    Align the replacement battery over the housing and press down evenly to stick it securely to the fresh adhesive strips.

    Attach the battery flex connector

    Align the battery press connector over its motherboard terminal and snap it down until you feel a firm click.

    Reinstall the motherboard bracket

    Place the upper plastic motherboard shield back onto the top section of the frame, pressing down lightly until it rests flush.

    Secure the motherboard bracket screws

    Tighten the 11 Phillips #00 screws into the motherboard cover until snug. Avoid overtightening to prevent damaging the plastic.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor

    Position the rear cover close to the phone and press the fingerprint flex cable connector into its motherboard terminal.

    Snap the rear shell into place

    Align the rear shell over the chassis and press firmly around the edges until all plastic perimeter snaps lock into place.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the top-left side of the phone until it sits flush against the frame.
