   Turn off the phone completely

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off. Never perform water damage repairs while electricity is flowing through the device.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the card tray on the left edge. Pull the SIM and microSD tray completely out.

   Heat the rear panel

   Apply heat to the edges of the back cover for two minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

   Slice through the rear adhesive

   Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge, lift up to create a small gap, and insert an opening pick. Slide the pick around the edges to release the back cover.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

   Gently swing the back cover open like a book to the left side. Use a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off the motherboard.

   Remove the motherboard bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws holding the upper plastic motherboard cover in place.

   Pry off the upper midframe cover

   Insert a spudger under the plastic top housing and unclip it from the frame to reveal the main motherboard.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power immediately.

   Unscrew the lower speaker housing

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker module to the phone chassis.

    Remove the speaker module

    Pry up the lower plastic speaker housing with a spudger and remove it from the device.

    Detach all interconnect flex cables

    Disconnect the main display flex cable, sub-board interconnect cable, and white antenna coaxial cables from the motherboard and sub-board.

    Lift out the motherboard

    Carefully pry the motherboard out of its recessed bay in the chassis using a plastic spudger.

    Remove the lower sub-board

    Gently lift the small daughterboard containing the USB-C port and microphone away from the bottom of the frame.

    Scrub corroded areas with isopropyl alcohol

    Dip a soft-bristle brush into 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub white or green corrosion off the motherboard, sub-board, and connectors.

    Blow dry components with compressed air

    Spray short bursts of compressed air over the boards to dislodge remaining liquid, then let the parts dry thoroughly for 30 minutes.

    Reinstall the mainboards into the frame

    Place the cleaned motherboard and daughterboard back into their exact locations in the chassis.

    Reconnect the flex cables and battery

    Snap the display flex cable, interconnect flex cable, and antenna wires back into place, then reconnect the battery cable last.

    Secure the midframe and reattach the back panel

    Reinstall all midframe screws, reconnect the fingerprint reader, and press the back cover firmly onto the chassis using fresh adhesive strips.
