Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM card tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it completely.

Heat the rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to apply mild heat around the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower section of the rear glass panel.

Create a seam gap
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup while pressing down on the frame to create a slight gap between the rear cover and the chassis.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide the thin tip of an opening pick into the gap created near the bottom edge.

Slice the rear adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around all four edges to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Unfold the rear cover
2 minGently lift the right edge of the rear cover like a book, taking care not to strain the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the motherboard.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the loudspeaker assembly at the bottom of the frame.

Remove the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the speaker housing tab and gently lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to pop the main interconnect flex cable connector off the lower daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully pry up the white coaxial antenna cable connector from the daughterboard.

Remove the daughterboard
2 minInsert a flat tool beneath the sub-board containing the primary microphone and pry it up from the chassis frame.

Install the new daughterboard
2 minAlign the replacement microphone daughterboard with the lower frame recess and press it down firmly.

Reconnect the antenna and main flex
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable and main interconnect flex cable back onto their sub-board connectors.

Reinstall the speaker housing
3 minPlace the loudspeaker assembly over the daughterboard and secure it with the five Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minAlign and press down the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector onto the motherboard socket.

Reseal the rear cover
4 minApply new adhesive strips along the phone frame perimeter, press the rear cover firmly into place, and reinsert the SIM tray.
