Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to completely shutdown the device.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply a heat gun set to low heat around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass back cover and the plastic frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlowly slide the opening pick around all four edges to slice through the adhesive holding the back cover.

Pivot open the back cover
1 minGently lift the back cover off toward the right side like a book, minding the fingerprint flex cable.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minUse precision tweezers to lift the connector press-bracket and detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Remove bottom speaker screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 6 screws securing the lower speaker assembly.

Pry up speaker enclosure
1 minInsert a plastic spudger under the top corner of the speaker housing and pop it out from the frame.

Disconnect interconnect flex cable
1 minPry the main ribbon cable connector straight up off the lower charging port board using a plastic tool.

Disconnect antenna cable
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna cable connector off its socket on the daughterboard.

Unclip antenna wire
1 minFree the white antenna wire from its plastic retaining channel running along the edge of the phone.

Remove broken charging board
2 minSlide a plastic opening pick under the daughterboard and pry it up from the light adhesive underneath.

Clean board recess
2 minWipe away old adhesive and dust inside the daughterboard frame recess with a drop of isopropyl alcohol.

Insert new charging board
2 minAlign the replacement charging port board with the peg locators and press it flush into the frame.

Reconnect antenna cable
1 minPosition the antenna cable snap head precisely over the connector socket and press down until it clicks.

Route antenna cable channel
1 minPush the white antenna cable back into its retaining slot along the inner edge of the chassis.

Reconnect interconnect flex cable
1 minAlign the main flex connector over the board socket and gently press down until you feel it snap into place.

Position speaker housing
1 minPlace the lower speaker enclosure back into its cavity over the new daughterboard.

Tighten speaker screws

2 minAttach the fingerprint ribbon flex cable back onto the motherboard press socket.

Apply back cover adhesive
3 minLine the perimeter of the inner phone frame with fresh pre-cut adhesive tape.

Press back cover closed
2 minAlign the rear glass panel over the frame and press firmly along all edges to seal the adhesive.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into the slot on the left side of the device until flush.
