   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the card tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the cover in place.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press down firmly to create a seal.

   Create an opening seam

   Pull up on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass back and frame.

   Slice the rear adhesive

   Slide the pick slowly around all four edges of the back panel to slice through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the adhesive becomes resistant.

   Unfold the rear cover

   Gently lift the back cover from the right edge like opening a book. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint reader flex cable is still connected.

   Unbolt the motherboard shield

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the Phillips screws securing the plastic motherboard frame.

   Remove the motherboard shield

   Use a plastic spudger to gently unclip and lift the plastic bracket off the top section of the motherboard.

    Disconnect the fingerprint cable

    Use the flat end of a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector straight up off its motherboard socket.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard to cut power to the device.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Unplug the display and main interconnect flex cables spanning over the battery bay using your spudger.

    Soften the battery adhesive

    Apply a few drops of high-purity isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery. Wait two minutes to break down the glue beneath.

    Pry out the old battery

    Insert a flat plastic spudger beneath the bottom edge of the battery and lever it upward. Never use metal tools or bend the lithium pouch.

    Clean the battery bay

    Wipe away remaining adhesive strips and alcohol residue inside the battery cavity using a lint-free cloth.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Peel the backing from new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat into the empty battery compartment.

    Install the replacement battery

    Align the new battery in the well and press down firmly to set it into the fresh adhesive.

    Reconnect internal flex cables

    Snap the main interconnect flex cables back onto their motherboard terminals using light thumb pressure.

    Attach the battery connector

    Press the battery cable connector straight down into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor

    Hold the rear cover near the frame and press the fingerprint flex cable connector back onto the motherboard.

    Reinstall the motherboard shield

    Position the plastic shield over the motherboard and tighten the Phillips #00 screws until secure.

    Reseal the rear cover

    Apply pre-cut adhesive or B-7000 glue to the frame perimeter, align the rear glass cover, and press firmly along all edges.
