Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray ejects, then pull it out.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge and pull up gently to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slide it along the perimeter to cut the adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the rear panel from the right side like a book. Use a spudger to pop off the fingerprint sensor cable connector from the motherboard.

Remove the lower speaker screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unthread the seven screws holding the bottom speaker assembly in place.

Pry out the speaker assembly
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the edge of the speaker housing and gently pry it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the main ribbon cable connector straight up off the sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minCarefully pry the white coaxial antenna cable head straight up off its socket on the sub-board using tweezers.

Remove the microphone sub-board
2 minPry beneath the sub-board containing the primary microphone using a plastic opening tool to release it from the frame adhesive.

Install the new sub-board
2 minPlace the replacement microphone sub-board into the lower housing socket and press down lightly to seat it.

Reconnect the antenna and main flex cable
2 minAlign and press down on the coaxial antenna head and main flex connector until they snap securely into place on the new sub-board.

Reinstall the speaker assembly
3 minLower the speaker cover back over the sub-board and secure it with the seven Phillips screws.

Attach the rear panel
3 minReconnect the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable, replace the frame adhesive, and press the rear cover back onto the phone frame.
