Step-by-step

Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the card tray on the left edge. Push firmly straight in until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.

Heat the back panel
2 minApply heat evenly around the perimeter of the back panel for approximately two minutes using a heat gun set to low. This softens the adhesive holding the rear plastic cover.

Apply suction cup to back cover
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press firmly to create a seal. Pull up gently on the suction cup handle to create a small gap.

Insert opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the back panel and the frame. Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Slice back cover adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick along all four edges of the back panel to separate the adhesive. Take extra care around the camera module and power button area.

Remove back cover

Unscrew midframe screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic midframe and motherboard cover.

2 minInsert a plastic prying tool between the midframe bezel and the main body chassis. Gently pry along the edges to release the plastic retaining clips.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minSlightly lift the midframe to expose the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector underneath. Use the flat tip of a spudger to pop the connector straight up from the motherboard.

Remove plastic midframe
1 minLift the midframe completely away from the phone body once the flex cable is fully disconnected.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minLocate the battery flex cable on the motherboard. Pry the press connector straight up using a plastic spudger to cut off power to the device.

Disconnect display flex cable

Heat screen edges

Attach suction cup to glass
