   Power off the device

   Turn off the phone immediately to prevent electrical short circuits. Do not plug in a charger under any circumstances.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out.

   Heat the back panel edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on medium heat to warm the outer perimeter of the back panel for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear glass panel. Pull gently upward to create a tiny gap.

   Slice through the rear adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick around all four edges to release the glue.

   Remove the back panel

   Lift the back cover away from the body once the adhesive is severed. Set the back panel aside on a clean surface.

   Unscrew the upper motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the plastic shield over the motherboard. Keep track of all screw locations.

   Remove the plastic bracket

   Pry up the edges of the motherboard cover gently with a spudger. Lift the bracket off and set it aside.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Insert the flat end of a plastic spudger under the battery connector and pry up straight. This stops power from flowing to exposed components.

    Disconnect remaining display and sub-board flex cables

    Unplug the main display ribbon cable and the lower sub-board interconnect cable from the logic board. Use a spudger to avoid shorting components.

    Lift out the motherboard

    Carefully pry under the edges of the main motherboard with a spudger to remove it from the phone frame. Do not bend the circuit board.

    Remove the lower speaker assembly

    Unscrew the Phillips screws securing the bottom speaker cover and sub-board. Remove the speaker module to access the charging port board.

    Clean logic boards with isopropyl alcohol

    Dip a soft brush into 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub the motherboard and sub-board gently. Pay special attention to visible white or green corrosion deposits.

    Dry components with compressed air

    Blow short bursts of compressed air over the cleaned circuit boards to clear away loosened debris and excess alcohol. Allow them to dry thoroughly for 30 minutes.

    Reassemble components and apply new adhesive

    Reinstall the sub-board, motherboard, flex cables, and battery in reverse order. Apply fresh back cover adhesive tape before pressing the back panel shut.
