Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button until the menu appears on screen. Tap Power Off and wait for the screen to turn black.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the top of the frame. Push inward firmly to pop out the SIM tray and remove it.

Heat the Rear Cover
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back glass for 2-3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the rear panel.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower edge of the back glass. Pull up on the handle gently to create a slight gap between glass and frame.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minSlide an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from cooling and resealing.

Slice Edge Adhesive
4 minSlide additional opening picks along all four edges of the back cover. Take care near the center of the phone to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minSlightly tilt the back cover open without pulling hard on the ribbon cable. Use a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader connector off the motherboard.

Remove Back Cover
1 minLift the glass back cover completely off the phone body. Set it aside in a safe place.

Unscrew Speaker Assembly
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Pry Out Old Speaker
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the notch of the loudspeaker housing. Carefully pry the speaker module up and out of the lower chassis.

Install New Speaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the bottom cavity. Press down gently until it sits flush against the housing.

Secure Speaker Screws
2 minReinstall all Phillips #00 screws into the loudspeaker assembly. Tighten them clockwise until snug.

Reconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minPosition the back cover near the phone frame. Press the fingerprint reader ribbon cable connector straight down onto the board until it snaps into place.

Apply New Rear Adhesive
3 minClean remaining adhesive off the frame edges using isopropyl alcohol. Apply new pre-cut adhesive strips along the perimeter.

Press Back Cover Closed
2 minAlign the rear glass with the frame and press firmly around all edges. Apply pressure for a few minutes to ensure a tight seal.
