Step-by-step

Power off and eject SIM tray
1 minTurn off your Moto G7 Supra completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the left edge to pop out the SIM card tray.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the back cover edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear glass panel near the charging port.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a thin plastic opening pick under the rear cover.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the phone to separate the back cover adhesive.

Lift the rear cover gently
1 minPivot the rear cover open from the left side, taking care not to rip the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minUse a spudger to pry up the metal bracket and disconnect the fingerprint reader flex cable from the motherboard.

Remove upper midframe screws

Detach upper midframe shield

Remove the old battery
2 minLift the battery out of the frame using a flat plastic opening tool, applying a drop of isopropyl alcohol if adhesive remains.

Apply new adhesive to replacement battery
2 minStick fresh double-sided battery adhesive strips to the backside of your new replacement battery.

Set new battery into position
1 minAlign the replacement battery in the recess and press down firmly to secure it to the frame.

Connect the battery flex cable
1 minAlign the battery connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it snaps into place.

Reinstall upper motherboard cover
3 minPlace the top plastic midframe shield back onto the chassis and replace all Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minSnap the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable back onto the motherboard connector and secure its protective cover.

Apply rear cover adhesive
3 minClean remaining old glue with isopropyl alcohol, then stick new pre-cut adhesive strips around the outer frame.

Seal the rear panel
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly along all edges to ensure a complete seal.
