Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the top edge of the device. Press firmly to pop out and remove the tray.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply heat evenly around the outer edges of the back cover using a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to soften adhesive.

Attach suction cup to back cover
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back glass and press down firmly to create a seal.

Slice adhesive with prying tool
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap, then insert a plastic opening pick. Slide it around all edges to slice the adhesive.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minGently swing the back cover open to the side. Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint reader flex cable from the board.

Unscrew lower speaker assembly
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the bottom speaker bracket over the daughterboard.

Remove lower speaker cover
2 minInsert a spudger under the lip of the speaker cover and lift it out from the device frame.

Disconnect sub-board interconnect flex
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry straight up and disconnect the main flex connector from the lower sub-board.

Disconnect antenna cable
1 minPry up the white coaxial antenna cable connector from the sub-board using tweezers or a spudger tip.

Remove defective microphone sub-board
2 minSlide a spudger under the sub-board containing the primary microphone and gently pry it out of the phone frame.

Install new microphone sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone sub-board into the bottom frame cavity and press gently into place.

Reconnect antenna cable
1 minAlign the antenna coaxial head over its socket on the sub-board and press down gently until it snaps into place.

Reconnect interconnect flex cable
1 minPress the main flex cable connector down onto the socket on the sub-board until it firmly seats.

Reinstall lower speaker cover
2 minPlace the speaker assembly back onto the bottom frame and re-tighten all Phillips screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor cable
2 minHold the back cover close to the frame and attach the fingerprint flex cable connector to the motherboard.

Reseal back cover
3 minApply fresh precut adhesive to the perimeter of the frame and press the back cover firmly down to seal.
