   Power off the Moto G7 Play

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it.

   Heat the rear panel

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the edges of the back panel for two minutes. This softens the perimeter adhesive.

   Insert opening pick under back cover

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap.

   Slice through back panel adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around all four edges of the rear cover to cut the glue. Keep the pick shallow near the fingerprint sensor.

   Lift and remove back cover

   Carefully lift the back panel off the phone body. Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable if it remains attached.

   Unscrew top motherboard frame

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard frame. Organize screws for reassembly.

   Pry off motherboard shield

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the motherboard shield. Gently lift and remove the shield.

   Disconnect battery press connector

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the battery flex connector straight up from the motherboard.

    Disconnect screen flex cable

    Locate the display flex cable connector on the motherboard. Pry it straight up with your spudger to disconnect it.

    Heat screen perimeter

    Apply heat evenly around the outer edges of the front glass screen for approximately two minutes. This softens the display adhesive.

    Separate display glass from frame

    Attach a suction cup to the front screen and pull upward while inserting a thin opening pick under the glass edge.

    Remove damaged screen

    Slice around all edges with the pick, then lift the screen away while guiding the flex cable through the frame slot.

    Clean frame residue

    Use isopropyl alcohol and tweezers to scrape away remaining adhesive and glass fragments from the inner frame ledge.

    Apply new display adhesive

    Line up custom pre-cut adhesive strips along the inner perimeter of the frame. Press down firmly to adhere.

    Feed cable and place new screen

    Thread the new display flex cable through the frame opening. Press the display assembly firmly into place.

    Reconnect display and battery cables

    Press the display flex cable onto its socket until it clicks. Reconnect the battery flex cable to restore power.

    Reinstall motherboard shield

    Position the plastic motherboard shield over the top portion of the device and press down until it snaps in place.

    Secure frame screws

    Reinsert and tighten all Phillips screws into the motherboard shield until snug.

    Attach back cover

    Apply fresh adhesive tape to the back cover edges, align it with the frame, and press firmly around all sides.

    Reinsert SIM tray
