   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray. Press firmly to pop the tray out, then slide it out of the phone.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive underneath.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull gently upward to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.

   Slice through the rear cover adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along the edges of the back cover. Carefully cut through all perimeter adhesive.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable

   Slightly lift the back cover from the right side, taking care not to strain the attached ribbon cable. Use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor cable off the motherboard.

   Remove the top midframe screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the upper motherboard bracket. Set the screws aside in an organized tray.

   Detach the upper motherboard bracket

   Insert the flat edge of a spudger under the motherboard bracket and gently pry it up. Lift the bracket off the phone.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard. This prevents short circuits while working.

    Disconnect the display interconnect cable

    Use a spudger to disconnect the lower interconnect flex cable spanning across the top of the battery. Fold the flex cable back out of the way.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and side edges of the battery. Allow one minute for the alcohol to break down the adhesive.

    Pry the battery from the housing

    Slide a flat plastic spudger or plastic card under the left side of the battery. Slowly pry upward until the adhesive releases completely, taking care not to bend the cell.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the degraded battery out of the chassis and dispose of it at an appropriate battery recycling center. Never reuse a damaged or deformed battery.

    Clean the battery recess

    Use a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive residue from the frame recess.

    Install new adhesive strips

    Peel the protective backing off your replacement battery adhesive strips and lay them into the battery recess.

    Seat the replacement battery

    Align the new battery over the recess and press it firmly into place. Ensure the battery cable reaches its motherboard socket without tension.

    Reconnect the interconnect and battery flex cables

    Snap the display interconnect flex cable back into its connector, followed by the battery flex cable.

    Reattach the upper motherboard bracket

    Position the top plastic midframe bracket back over the motherboard and press down until it snaps into place.

    Secure the motherboard bracket screws

    Reinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to hold the upper bracket securely in place.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

    Hold the back cover close to the phone frame and press the fingerprint flex cable back onto its motherboard socket.

    Apply back cover adhesive and seal

    Apply new back cover adhesive along the edges of the frame, then press the back cover firmly onto the device.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Slide the SIM tray back into its slot until it sits flush with the side of the housing.
