Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the SIM card slot on the left edge. Push firmly inward to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat the rear cover edges

Slice through the back cover adhesive
4 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull gently to create a small gap, and insert a plastic opening pick. Slide the pick around all sides to free the adhesive.

Remove the back panel

Remove midframe screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the upper motherboard shield and midframe cover.

Unclip the midframe cover
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe shield and gently pry upwards to release the locking clips.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to carefully pop the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the power button flex cable
2 minLocate the power button connector on the side of the motherboard. Use tweezers or a spudger to flip open the ZIF latch and slide the flex cable out.

Peel out the old power button cable
3 minUse fine-tip tweezers to gently peel the damaged power button flex cable and key assembly off the side frame.

Install the new power button flex assembly
3 minPeel off any protective film from the adhesive on the new power button flex cable, align it with the side frame recess, and press it firmly into place.

Connect the power button cable to motherboard
2 minInsert the ribbon end of the new flex cable into the motherboard ZIF socket and lock down the retaining latch.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign the battery connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it clicks securely into place.

Reinstall the midframe and screws
3 minPosition the midframe cover over the motherboard, press down along the edges to clip it in, and reinstall all Phillips #000 screws.

Reseal the back cover
2 minApply new adhesive strips along the phone frame, align the rear cover, and press firmly around all edges before reinserting the SIM tray.
