Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear panel with a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the back cover.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower section of the back panel near the bottom edge. Pull up gently to create a slight gap between the cover and the frame.

Insert an opening pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Avoid pushing the pick in more than a few millimeters.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around the bottom, left, and right edges to slice through the adhesive tape. Reapply heat if the cover resists movement.

Slice the top edge carefully
2 minCarefully slide the pick along the top edge near the camera module. Stop before fully removing the cover to protect the fingerprint ribbon cable.

Unfold the back cover
1 minGently lift the right side of the back cover like opening a book. Keep it close to the chassis to avoid straining the fingerprint cable.

Unscrew the cable bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield over the fingerprint sensor connector.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pop the fingerprint reader connector straight up from the motherboard. Set the back cover aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device. Keep track of all removed screws.

Pry out the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the designated notch in the loudspeaker housing. Pry upward gently to unclip and remove the module.

Install the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the new loudspeaker module into the lower cavity of the frame. Press down firmly around its edges until it snaps into position.

Secure the loudspeaker screws
2 minReinsert and tighten all the Phillips #00 screws securing the loudspeaker housing to the frame.

Reconnect the fingerprint cable
3 minPosition the back cover nearby, reconnect the fingerprint press connector, and secure its protective metal shield with the saved screws.

Reseal the back cover
4 minApply fresh precut adhesive to the perimeter of the frame. Align the rear panel, press firmly along all edges to seal, and reinsert the SIM tray.
