Step-by-step

Power Down and Eject SIM Tray
2 minTurn off the phone completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on top of the phone to remove the SIM and microSD card tray.

Heat Rear Glass Panel
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer around the perimeter of the back glass for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive beneath.

Apply Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the glass back and gently pull upward to create a thin gap.

Insert Opening Pick
1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the frame and the rear glass.

Slice Back Glass Adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick around all edges of the rear panel to cut through the remaining adhesive strip.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor Cable
2 minSlightly tip up the rear panel and use a spudger to unclip the fingerprint reader flex cable from the main motherboard.

Remove Rear Glass
1 minLift the rear cover completely off the phone and place it on a clean surface.

Unscrew Speaker Module Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower speaker assembly in place.

Pry Out Speaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger under the plastic speaker assembly cover and lift it out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect Main Interconnect Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the main ribbon cable off the lower daughterboard connector.

Disconnect Antenna Coaxial Cable
1 minGently pry up the antenna cable connector from the daughterboard using precision tweezers.

Remove Defective Daughterboard
2 minPry up the lower daughterboard containing the primary microphone from the phone frame using a spudger.

Transfer Rubber Microphone Gasket
2 minCheck the old board's microphone and transfer the small rubber dampening gasket onto the new microphone component if needed.

Install Replacement Daughterboard
2 minPress the new daughterboard into the lower housing slot until it sits flat against the chassis.

Reconnect Antenna Cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna head over its daughterboard socket and gently snap it into place with tweezers.

Reconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minAlign and press down on the main ribbon cable connector until you feel it snap onto the lower board.

Reinstall Speaker Module
3 minSet the speaker enclosure back over the lower board and drive in the Phillips #00 screws tightly.

Reconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minHold the rear panel close to the phone and reattach the fingerprint sensor connector to the motherboard.

Reseal Back Glass and Reinsert Tray
4 minApply fresh back cover adhesive around the frame perimeter, firmly press down the glass cover, and reinsert the SIM tray.
