Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Heat the Rear Glass Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting for two minutes around the outer edges of the rear glass to soften the adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup tool on the lower portion of the rear glass cover and press down to create a firm seal.

Slice the Rear Cover Adhesive
4 minPull up gently on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass and the frame. Slide it carefully along the edges.

Lift Away the Rear Glass
2 minCarefully separate the rear glass cover from the phone chassis and place it safely aside.

Unscrew the Midframe Fasteners
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic upper and lower midframe covers.

Unclip the Plastic Midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe section and gently lever it up to free it from the phone.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the pointed end of a plastic spudger to pop the battery connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the Volume Flex Assembly
2 minLocate the volume/power button flex connector on the side of the motherboard and pry it off using a spudger.

Peel Out the Damaged Button Flex Cable
3 minUse fine tweezers to gently peel the volume button flex cable away from the inner side frame where it is glued down.

Position the New Volume Button Flex
2 minAlign the replacement volume button flex cable onto the inner frame housing and press it down to adhere it securely.

Connect the New Flex Cable
1 minPress the volume button cable connector onto its motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

Reconnect the Battery Cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and snap it down firmly.

Reinstall the Midframe and Screws
3 minSnap the plastic midframe assembly back onto the chassis and replace all Phillips screws to secure it.

Reseal the Rear Glass Cover
3 minApply new adhesive tape along the perimeter of the frame, then press the glass cover firmly into place.
