Step-by-step

Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole at the top edge of the Moto G6 Plus and press firmly. Remove the SIM and SD card tray from the slot.

Heat rear glass panel
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on medium heat around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Create opening seam
2 minPress a suction cup onto the lower section of the glass back cover and pull upward firmly to make a small gap. Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice rear adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the phone to cut through the factory perimeter adhesive tape.

Remove rear glass cover
1 minCarefully lift the rear glass panel straight off the frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew motherboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover and speaker frame.

Detach upper plastic bracket
1 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the upper plastic cover and gently lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector press-fit socket straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect display flex cable
1 minPry up the display flex cable connector located on the right side of the logic board.

Disconnect interconnect flex cable
1 minUnplug the lower daughterboard interconnect ribbon cable from the bottom portion of the logic board.

Detach camera modules
3 minDisconnect the ribbon cables for the front-facing camera and rear dual-camera module using a spudger, then remove the cameras with tweezers.

Unscrew logic board
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the logic board down to the metal frame.

Lift out original logic board
2 minGently pry up the top edge of the logic board and tilt it out from the phone chassis.

Insert replacement logic board
2 minPosition the new logic board into the frame bottom-first, then press the top edge flat into place.

Reconnect cameras and cables
3 minReinstall the camera modules, then snap the interconnect, display, and battery flex connectors firmly onto the board.

Reinstall upper cover and glass
4 minScrew down the upper plastic cover, apply new adhesive strips to the edges, and press the rear glass firmly onto the frame.
