   Power off phone

   Shut down your Moto G6 Play completely before starting the disassembly process.

   Eject SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole beside the SIM tray and pull the tray out.

   Heat rear cover

   Apply heat around the edges of the back cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and pull upward firmly to create a tiny gap.

   Insert opening pick

   Slip a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the rear glass cover and the phone frame.

   Slice bottom adhesive

   Slide the pick along the bottom edge of the device to cut through the underlying adhesive strip.

   Slice side adhesive

   Move the pick up along both long sides of the phone, reheating the glass if you feel strong resistance.

   Slice top adhesive

   Carefully slice along the top edge, keeping the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal cables.

   Lift rear cover carefully

   Gently swing the back cover open like a book, taking care not to strain the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

    Disconnect fingerprint sensor cable

    Use the pointed end of a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector straight up off the motherboard.

    Remove rear cover

    Lift the rear cover free from the chassis and place it on a clean surface.

    Unscrew motherboard cover

    Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the nine screws securing the plastic motherboard frame.

    Remove motherboard cover

    Pry up the top plastic motherboard shield using a spudger and lift it out of the phone.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Pry the battery connector directly up from its socket on the top right of the motherboard.

    Disconnect interconnect cable

    Use a spudger to disconnect the ribbon cable running over the battery from the sub-board to the mainboard.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery to weaken the glue.

    Pry out old battery

    Insert a flat plastic card or plastic prying tool under the battery and lift slowly to break the adhesive bond.

    Remove old battery

    Lift the old battery out of the frame and safely set it aside for proper disposal.

    Install battery adhesive

    Apply new custom battery adhesive strips or thin double-sided tape into the empty battery compartment.

    Seat replacement battery

    Place the new battery into the well and press down firmly to secure it to the fresh adhesive.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Snap the main interconnect cable and the new battery connector back onto their motherboard sockets.

    Reinstall motherboard cover

    Position the plastic upper shield over the motherboard and reinsert the nine Phillips #00 screws.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor

    Hold the back cover near the phone and press the fingerprint flex cable connector back onto the motherboard.

    Seal rear cover

    Apply new back cover adhesive along the edges and press the rear cover down firmly along all sides.
