Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

Heat the display edges
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer edges of the front glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the front display, just above the home button.

Create a gap
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup handle to create a tiny gap between the glass and the metal frame.

Insert an opening pick
1 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created at the bottom edge of the phone.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the pick gently along the bottom perimeter to separate the adhesive around the home button.

Slice the left edge adhesive
2 minMove the pick around the bottom-left corner and slide it up along the left edge of the display.

Slice the right edge adhesive
2 minInsert a second pick and slide it along the right edge to cut through the display adhesive.

Slice the top edge adhesive
2 minCarefully slide the pick across the top edge, taking care not to insert it too deeply near the earpiece.

Pry open the screen
1 minGently lift the top edge of the display up like a book, leaving the bottom edge near the ribbon cable connected.

Unscrew the cable bracket
1 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal display cable shield.

Remove the cable shield
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield covering the display ribbon connector.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the display cable straight up from its motherboard socket.

Remove the old display

Clean the frame adhesive
5 minScrape away remaining adhesive from the metal frame using a spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new adhesive strips
4 minLay pre-cut adhesive strips precisely around the inner ledge of the phone frame.

Connect the new display cable
2 minAlign and press the display ribbon cable onto the motherboard connector until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the cable shield
