Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Heat Front Display Edge
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the perimeter of the front glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front screen just above the home button.

Slice Screen Adhesive
5 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a plastic opening pick to slice through the adhesive around all edges.

Pry Up Display Assembly
2 minCarefully lift the bottom edge of the screen, tilting it upward toward the top edge without pulling hard on the flex cable.

Remove Display Shield Screw
2 minUnscrew the single Phillips #000 screw securing the metal shield over the display connector.

Disconnect Display Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pop the display ribbon cable connector straight off the motherboard, then set the screen aside.

Unscrew Internal Midframe
4 minRemove all Phillips screws securing the internal black midframe panel to the rear enclosure.

Remove Midframe Panel
2 minPry the midframe assembly up from the chassis using a flat spudger and remove it from the phone.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minPry the battery press connector up from the top of the motherboard to safely cut power to the device.

Disconnect Daughterboard Flex
2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the main ribbon cable and coaxial antenna cable from the lower daughterboard.

Remove Daughterboard Screws
2 minUnscrew the remaining Phillips screws securing the lower daughterboard assembly containing the microphone.

Extract Microphone Daughterboard
2 minLift the daughterboard out of the lower enclosure using tweezers, taking care not to snag the rubber microphone gasket.

Clean Microphone Port
2 minInspect the microphone channel in the phone frame and clear away any dust, lint, or old adhesive with tweezers.

Install New Microphone Board
2 minPosition the new daughterboard into the bottom of the housing and press it down firmly to seat the microphone.

Reconnect Antenna and Flex Cable
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna connector and main interconnect flex cable back onto the daughterboard.
